Week 4 Workout Wednesday Message

Happy Holidays! On behalf of the entire coaching and staff team I want to wish you a very wonderful holiday season and happy new year!

Can you believe we're already in week four? It can be tough to get out and complete your mileage during this time of year with so many family and work functions, cold weather and kids on vacation, but remember that your weekly total mileage is one of the top three most critical components of training (the other two being long Saturday mileage and rest days). Remember that Sundays are rest days and so too can Wednesdays be rest days so make sure you use them to avoid burnout. If you have any questions on training never hesitate to let me know by email, phone or text. Otherwise, I hope to see you all at training on Saturday!

Next Training:
  • Saturday 12/29
  • 745 am Mission Moment; 8 am start time
  • We ask that if you cannot be present at the start time but will arrive late then please either arrange this with me in advance or do not sign in to train with the team on that day so we can be sure to have everyone accounted for at all times.
What is the purpose of this training run?
We are training still for 'base building' and will continue to do so for the next several weeks. Base building allows us to develop our body's muscular, vascular and neurological systems for extended periods of time on our feet. This is important because it aids in the 'adaptation' to the stresses of training and the 'specificity' of the bodily systems required for this type of endurance event.

Spotlight Coach of the Week
Read the Spotlight Coach section for one of our awesome coaches - Kevin West - and some of his tips on training!

In closing, I want to emphasize how the most important aspect of what we do is the fundraising - this is what saves lives! Reach out to the mentors, staff and coaches for fundraising success. What we do is a commitment and it takes dedication. Get out there now for fundraising and you will have early success!

Run happy,
Jeffrey Promnitz
